M&D Mechanical Contractors, Inc. Earns National Honors from Associated Builders and Contractors for Huntsville Hospital 8th Floor NICU & Patient Rooms Renovation
Huntsville, Alabama | M&D Mechanical Contractors, Inc. announced work on the Huntsville Hospital 8th Floor NICU & Patient Rooms Renovation in Huntsville, AL has earned the company a national Excellence in Construction® Pyramid Award, presented during ABC Convention 2024 in Orlando, Florida, on March 14. The EIC awards recognized 91 of the nation’s top construction projects in 2023 as the leading national competition that annually honors general and specialty contractors for industry-leading, safe, and innovative construction projects from across the country. |
M&D Mechanical Contractors was tasked to provide a comprehensive overhaul for Huntsville Hospital's 8th Floor Project. The project scope encompassed 42 patients, administration, and staff rooms. The magnitude of this undertaking became evident as over 3,200 feet of domestic water piping, 3,000 feet of mechanical piping, 1,800 feet of medical gas piping, 400 feet of sanitary waste and vent lines, and a remarkable 30,000 pounds of ductwork were installed. The complexity extended further with the installation of 26 fan coil units, each accompanied by necessary piping, 45 air terminal boxes similarly connected, 5 exhaust fans, and the deployment of 2 rooftop air handlers.

The EIC awards honor every member of the construction team, including the contractor, owner, architect, and engineer. The winning projects are judged on complexity, attractiveness, unique challenges overcome, completion time, innovation, and safety.
A panel of industry experts served as the competition’s judges. This year’s judges included representatives from At Home, the Design-Build Institute of America, Engineering News-Record, Marriott, the National Institutes of Health, the National Institute of Building Sciences, the Smithsonian Institute and other select construction-related firms nationwide.
