M&D Mechanical is working with United Launch Alliance (ULA) in Decatur, Alabama to provide modifications to their existing pressure test facility (PTF) for the addition of its next generation VULCAN CENTAUR rocket that is slated to take flight beginning in April of 2021. ULA conducts highly sensitive and precise pressure tests of fuel tanks and other flight hardware inside the PTF. This project’s mechanical scope of work involves the fabrication and installation of additional high purity liquefied natural gas (LNG) and liquefied oxygen (LO2) piping for the new VULCAN CENTAUR tanks all while maintaining intact the existing capability to test other tanks that ULA currently has in their fleet.
