M&D Mechanical Employees Receive Top Apprentice Honors
Two of M&D Mechanical apprentices were chosen as Top Apprentices during the recent Associated Builders & Contractors (ABC) of North Alabama Awards Banquet. The employees honored were Danny Dean and Nathan Terry. Dean is in the sheet metal program and Terry is in the pipefitting program. M&D Mechanical is proud of all of the employees that are currently going through the apprentice program. This program is offered through the North Alabama Craft Training Foundation.
2014 Ends with Continued Excellent Safety Records
In 2014, M&D Mechanical had another banner year with respect to Safety Performance. We worked approximately 277,000 man-hours. We had one recordable, rendering our Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR) at a 0.72 for the calendar year. Our Experience Modification Rate (EMR) that assigns our level of premiums for workman’s compensation insurance continues to fall. 2015 this number will be at 0.64. That is a 36% off-the-top discount in our workman’s compensation insurance premiums! Our Lost Time Injury Rate has become so ridiculously brag-worthy that it borders on unbelievable. We are out past seven years and closing in on eight this summer. That time frame encompasses 2.5 Million Man-Hours. These numbers represent a safety program that is functioning so much better than our average competitor. Those are the statistical facts according to the Bureau of Labor and Statistics (bls.gov.) Safety is not just a job requirement; it has become a way of life and an integral part of conducting our business every day. Learn more about M&D Mechanical's safety program.
